The most frequently asked questions.
How long will the initial meeting take?
Most meetings will last between 1 to 1-1/2 hours. To make our meeting more time efficient, Victoria Renovations will typically send out two sales people for the initial visit. One of our sales people will measure the space you wish to remodel so we understand how many sqft will be affected and so we have a record of the existing floor plan to work from. The other sales person will listen to your ideas for the project and discuss the various realistic options for the space.
Who needs to attend the initial meeting?
All of the decision-makers for the project should be present at the first meeting. It is at this meeting that we determine if the home owner’s goals and budget for the project are realistic and if the customers are compatible with the contractor. It isn’t sensible to start these initial conversations without all parties present.
Does Victoria Renovations do weekend and evening appointments?
Under special circumstances, we will accommodate a client’s needs to meet after hours. However, it is important to keep in mind that a remodeling project is not only a commitment of money but also time. It will not be possible for all future appointments, installations, and meetings to take place after hours or on weekends, so we try not to set this expectation from the beginning of the process.
How long will my renovation take?
Each project is different in many ways but typically we see kitchen remodels taking between 4 to 8 weeks. Master bathroom remodels taking between 4 to 6 weeks and basement finishes 10 to 12 weeks. Additions can vary from 10 weeks to four months depending on the size and complexity. Once the scope of your specific project has been finalized your sales person and your project coordinator will be able to provide you with a realistic timeline for project completion based off the scope. We will work diligently to always meet the deadline and exceed the expectations of our clients.
When can you start?
Many factors influence our ability to start the project. Even although a client may be excited and ready to start straight away it is our goal to be in your home for the shortest period of time possible while delivering superior quality renovation.
Permit plan review periods, cabinet production lead times, Material availability and selections of these products can be time-consuming.
Who will run my project?
This is the question that many homeowners fail to ask prior to the start of their home renovation. They may like their salesperson but often forget to ask questions about the project manager that they will be working with directly for the next several months. Victoria Renovations only hires the best people to supervise our projects. When initially working with our customers, we take note of their personalities and try to pair them with a project manager with whom they might have similar interests or sense of humor. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable and to be able to communicate effectively and respectfully throughout the life of the project. After 20 years in the business, we have learned that you have to pay for good talent. Our employees are paid salary, bonuses, and 401Ks, and they also have company vehicles and get plenty of vacation time. This means that you will be working with a superintendent with a great attitude who loves their job, is well compensated, and is motivated to give you the best service possible.
Do you use subcontractors?
Victoria Renovations ensures that all tradesman and sub-contractors are fully licensed and insured with no exceptions. After 20 years in the industry, we have long-standing relationships with the majority of our subcontractors, so they understand our production systems and how we expect them to interact with our clients. We never send out a bid list out to several unfamiliar subcontractors in an effort to obtain the lowest price possible. We only work with quality subcontractors who stand behind their work.
Why should I choose Victoria Renovations over another renovation company?
In the remodeling business, a simple comparison of labor and material seems logical to many potential clients. However, there are many contributing factors to consider when choosing and comparing home renovation companies. Your choice should boast superior craftsmanship, professional and straightforward business practices, expert project management, quality materials, fully licensed and insured workers, and compliance to regulations that apply to your project. Victoria Renovations can offer excellence in all of these various categories, and we go above and beyond our competitors in every facet of our work.
Food for Thought
One of the common answers we hear from potential clients when we start to discuss budget and their process to find a contractor is usually to get some “Estimates” and see who is most cost effective. When shopping for a car, trying to find a great deal on the same model makes good sense as they are the same commodity. Remodeling on the other hand is very different. Price should not be the only thing you plan to compare. When you are searching for the lowest price you are encouraging the contractor to develop below average design ideas and find the cheapest sub-contractors to do the work. Worst case scenario they may use a vendor they have no experience with.
At Victoria Renovations we only use the same pool of quality craftsmen that we know and trust to do exceptional work. If you are looking for a handyman job done with builder grade materials at the most frugal price, Victoria Renovations is not the best choice for you. On the other hand, if you are seeking an organized, detail oriented company that performs professional work with a great attitude we are the very best choice to suit your home remodeling needs.
