Project Overview
The basement was transformed from a basic storage area into a multi-functional space that includes a stylish bar area, a sophisticated wine cellar, and a modern bathroom. Our scope of work included everything from demolition to the installation of high-end finishes, all while ensuring minimal disruption to the family’s daily life through our “occupied remodeling” approach. This method emphasizes maintaining a clean and safe living environment by using dust barriers and daily clean-up routines to keep the home dust-free.
Bar Area: A Blend of Functionality and Elegance
One of the standout features of this remodel is the new bar area. The bar is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, featuring Navy Blue pre-fabricated cabinets paired with Black Pearl leathered granite countertops. This combination creates a bold and sophisticated look that is sure to impress guests. The bar’s backsplash is adorned with a thin brick café mocha, adding a rustic charm that complements the sleek granite.
To keep beverages perfectly chi lled, we installed a 24” Kalamera beverage cooler, capable of storing a variety of drinks at optimal temperatures. Above the bar, custom-built floating shelves provide ample space for glassware and decorative items, further enhancing the bar’s functionality and style.
Wine Cellar: A Connoisseur’s Dream
Adjacent to the bar area, we created a wine cellar that is truly a connoisseur’s dream. The flooring in this space is also a continuation of the thin brick café mocha, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the basement. A 6ft tall double bottle wine rack was installed to accommodate a growing collection, providing both storage and display capabilities.
Bathroom: Modern Comfort and Style
The remodel also included a complete overhaul of the basement bathroom. The bathroom walls are lined with large format Apolina white porcelain tiles, which reflect light beautifully and make the space feel larger and more open. The shower floor and niche are finished with Industria matte ceramic penny tiles, adding texture and visual interest.
Navy Blue pre-fabricated cabinets in the bathroom match those in the bar area, providing continuity throughout the remodel. The Quartz Carbo Brushed countertop adds a touch of luxury and durability.
Flooring and Finishes
Throughout the basement, we installed Hazelwood Oak flooring. This choice not only provides a warm and inviting feel but also offers excellent durability and easy maintenance. The flooring seamlessly connects each area of the remodel, from the bar and wine cellar to the bathroom and living spaces.
Our attention to detail extended to the trim and moldings, with paint-grade pine shoe mold around the perimeter of the rooms and 5 1/4″ paint grade baseboards with a cove mold to match the upstairs trim. These finishing touches ensure a polished and cohesive look.
