Full Floor Remodel

This months featured project was completed for our clients in Marietta Georgia. We started the demo on this project about a week before Covid hit in full force. It created some interesting circumstances as we had gutted the kitchen and entire first floor of the families house and then had to figure out if we would be able to proceed during that time. There were also other obstacles, such as where would the family stay while we needed them out of the house during that time. Many accommodations were not open because of Covid. The family ended up borrowing a friends Airstream trailer and did some unexpected back yard camping for a period of time. In the end we navigated these obstacles and were able to get the project done in a timely fashion. The scope of work was large and complex. The goal was to remove every loadbearing wall on the first floor of the house except for the stairways and the powder room. It involved a significant amount of engineering, design, complex framing, welding and rerouting all plumbing and electrical systems. We essentially took this 1980s “four and a door” traditional house and turned it into a modern open living floorplan. The new layout included an entirely new kitchen, updated family room and open dining room. I think the before and after pictures speak for themselves in illustrating the complexity of the changes that were made to the house. Our clients love their new home and were glad to be done with their remodel during Pandemic. Each image is organized with the “after” photo followed by the “before” photo. The changes were so significant that sometimes it is hard to tell!
