The homeowners envisioned a stylish yet comfortable bar area where they could entertain guests and enjoy a sophisticated space within their home. Construction Disciplines and Techniques
The scope of work included demolition, framing, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, countertops, and final finishes. Here’s a detailed summary of the construction disciplines performed:
- Demolition and Framing:
- We began by framing a 2×4 knee wall, approximately 42 inches tall, to define the bar area.
- An arched opening at the top of the stairs leading to the basement was framed and drywalled to enhance the entryway.
- Electrical and Lighting:
- Installed multiple GFI outlets and dedicated circuits for the beverage cooler, wine cooler, and kegerator.
- LED strip lighting was meticulously placed behind the metal framework to create an ambient glow.
- Three Blackthorne 18” pendants were installed above the bar, adding a touch of elegance and focused lighting.
- Plumbing:
- Installed a Delta Transitional Faucet and a bar sink, with rough-ins for a countertop-mounted glass rinser.
- Cabinetry and Storage:
- Prefab painted cabinets in SW7674 Peppercorn were installed, including base cabinets with roll-out mechanisms for easy access and a pull-out trash unit.
- Upper wall cabinets were custom-built with white oak shelves and Myorka Black Tile with gold grout on the rear, creating a striking visual appeal.
- Blackrock ¾” pulls were selected for all cabinetry, adding a sleek and modern touch.
- Countertops and Backsplash:
- The countertops were crafted from San Gabriel leathered 3cm granite with a mitered edge, offering a durable and luxurious surface.
- A herringbone pattern backsplash using ceramic tiles was installed, further enhancing the bar’s aesthetic.
- Finishing Touches:
- A black and gold bar foot rail was installed, adding comfort and style for guests seated at the bar.
- The center column between the bar and family room was sanded and repainted to match the new décor.
