Their home, built over 15 years ago, was ready for a refresh that would balance modern functionality with timeless warmth. Our design-build team worked hand-in-hand with the homeowners to bring their vision to life, delivering a kitchen that is both elegant and highly functional—all while maintaining our dust-free and occupied remodeling protocols.
Careful Planning and Professional Execution
The remodel began with detailed planning, permitting, and protective measures. We installed floor protection and dust barriers to safeguard the family’s home throughout construction. A 10-yard dumpster and temporary facilities kept the project clean and efficient, and all work was fully permitted and inspected per Gwinnett County requirements
Our crew performed a complete demolition of the existing cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, and select appliances. To support the updated layout, new dedicated circuits were installed for the refrigerator, wall oven, induction cooktop, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and downdraft ventilation system. Additional GFI outlets and under-cabinet LED strip lighting brought the electrical system up to modern code, while plumbing rough-ins prepared the kitchen for new fixtures and appliances.
Cabinetry: A Blend of Painted and Natural Wood
One of the hallmarks of this project was the cabinetry design. Custom-built units, crafted from 3/4″ clear birch with maple doors, were installed floor to ceiling for maximum storage. The perimeter cabinetry was finished in a bright, clean lacquer, while the island and select accent cabinets were constructed in white oak with a warm, natural stain.
To add visual interest, we included tall glass-front display cabinets with integrated LED lighting—perfect for showcasing collectibles and serving pieces. Premium hardware in a modern brushed brass finish tied the cabinetry together, offering subtle sparkle against the neutral backdrop. A custom pull-out trash unit and paneled refrigerator brought even more functionality to the space.
Countertops and Backsplash: Seamless Quartz Surfaces
The Watts family selected elegant quartz for both the countertops and backsplash. The island, perimeter counters, and backsplash were fabricated and installed by our trusted supplier, with polished cutouts for the undermount sink, induction cooktop, and multiple electrical outlets. This material choice delivered durability, easy maintenance, and a seamless high-end aesthetic throughout the kitchen
Lighting and Finishes
A layered lighting plan brought warmth and functionality to the kitchen. Recessed can lights were added above the breakfast area windows, while oversized pendants above the island created a focal point. Under-cabinet LED strip lighting illuminated the work surfaces beautifully.
Cabinetry was painted with Sherwin Williams lacquer finishes, while walls and trim were refreshed with three complementary colors, lending subtle contrast and cohesion. Crown molding and base shoe trim provided crisp, tailored lines to complete the look.
Flooring: A Fresh Foundation
The existing hardwood floors were sanded, stained, and refinished across the kitchen, breakfast area, and adjoining spaces, ensuring the new finishes flowed seamlessly into the rest of the home. This process restored the natural luster of the wood and provided a durable foundation for daily family life
Appliances and Plumbing Fixtures
The homeowners retained and reused select appliances, including the wall oven and dishwasher, while integrating a new panel-ready refrigerator, induction cooktop, and downdraft ventilation system. A premium undermount sink, paired with a new faucet selected in Champagne Bronze, added both function and beauty. An upgraded InSinkErator disposal, operated by a countertop-mounted air switch, further modernized the workspace.
A Refined Gathering Space
Beyond the kitchen, the project scope included refinishing floors in the foyer and powder bath, updating base and shoe molding, and carefully repainting trim. These finishing touches unified the main level and gave the Watts family a fresh, welcoming home environment.
The finished result is a bright, open kitchen that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern conveniences.
